Vintage Chinese Table Screen with Courtly Lady & River Scene in DARLINGTON, Western Australia for sale
I am not sure of the age of this charming hand made Chinese table screen but it is several decades old and made with traditional joints in a rosewood frame. The panels are sheets of translucent bone. To one side are lovely picures of a courtly woman playing a pipa, walking under a willow tree, in a room beneath a lantern etc. These are hand engraved and coloured. The reverse depicts hand painted classical mountainous river scenes with pines, willows etc. Each panel has some script to the top left. There is a narrow sliver missing from one panel but being to the edge does not detract badly. 34cm wide by 21cm high with brass hinges.
